Brabant-Liège florin
Period: 1545-1795
Used by: Prince-Bishopric of Liège
The florin in which the prince-bishopric of Liège accounted: a florin was 20 patards or 80 liards (aidants). Numista splits this currency into 1545-1650 and 1650-1795, because the value of the silver coins in Liège varied widely until 1650 (the escalin was worth 7.5 to 10 patards) and was fixed afterwards (an escalin of 10 patards). For copper, such as the liard, nothing changes: it stayed one eightieth of a florin. That is why it is one currency here.
